Baseball Recap: Orange Grove Takes Down Lyford in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Orange Grove walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lyford an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for Orange Grove as they're now sitting on three straight.

Zach Wright was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Linden Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Orange Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .433 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Orange Grove's win bumped their record up to 17-10-1. As for Lyford, they moved to 21-9 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Orange Grove beat Lyford by a score of 11-1 on Friday.
