Heritage had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their defense stepped up to hand the Greenville Lions a 26-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Coyotes as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Tatum Bell Jr had a dynamite game for Heritage, picking up 187 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Bell Jr got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of97 yards. Another player making a difference was Denzel Okekeuche, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.

Heritage was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 530 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

One reason for the win was Heritage's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Sean French III and his two. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks and making five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Terrell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greenville, they will face off against Sulphur Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenville will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
