Soccer Recap: Cedar Ridge Comes Up Short

Cedar Ridge lost against Western Alamance back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fighting Red Wolves came up short against the Warriors, falling 8-2. While losing is never fun, Cedar Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Western Alamance are ranked sixth).

Kate Finnegan and Fleury Nicholson scored both of Cedar Ridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 27 goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Cedar Ridge and nudges their season record down to 7-7-1. As for Western Alamance, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-0-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cedar Ridge will take on rival Eastern Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Western Alamance is set to face off against their familiar foe Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Western Alamance's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Williams have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
