Football Game Preview: Milpitas Trojans vs. Maria Carrillo Pumas + How To Watch

The Milpitas Trojans will face off against the Maria Carrillo Pumas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Milpitas will be strutting in after a victory while Maria Carrillo will be coming in after a loss.

Milpitas is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Los Altos 38-21 on Friday. The Trojans pushed the score to 38-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Nizhir Bess was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks and making ten total tackles. Esene Head was another key back, rushing for 45 yards and one TD.

Milpitas' run defense was locked in: Los Altos could only muster -0.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least ten total tackles, Bess stood above the rest. He rushed for 94 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. Milpitas didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.5.

Milpitas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ayden Guglielmelli and Kale Hawelu. Hawelu got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Maria Carrillo's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They received a blow as they fell 35-21 to Petaluma. The Pumas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Milpitas will have to contain Estefan Ramirez as he made an impact in Maria Carrillo's last game. He rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

The win made it two in a row for Milpitas and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 28 points in those games. As for Maria Carrillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
