Baseball Recap: Parke Heritage's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Parke Heritage dropped their record down to 17-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell 8-5 to the Greencastle Tiger Cubs. The Wolves were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tiger Cubs from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Mason Wilcox made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

As for Greencastle, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

On Greencastle's side, Bryton Gregg made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave Gregg a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Sutherlin, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.

As of now, neither Parke Heritage nor Greencastle have any future games scheduled.
