Basketball Game Preview: Parkland Matadors vs. Americas Trail Blazers

The Parkland Matadors will square off against the Americas Trail Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Parkland was beaten by El Dorado 50-23. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Matadors have suffered against the Aztecs since November 26, 2019.

Meanwhile, Americas entered their tilt with Horizon on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 63-10 victory over the Scorpions. Given the Trail Blazers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Scorpions are ranked 1290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Americas pushed their record up to 25-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.9 points per game. As for Parkland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season.

Parkland was taken down by Americas 75-16 when the teams last played on January 7th. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Parkland was down 48-2.
