Baseball Game Preview: Carthage Bulldogs vs. Kilgore Bulldogs

Carthage will take on Kilgore at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, Carthage didn't have quite enough to beat Henderson and fell 6-5.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Kilgore's offense. They fell just short of Gilmer by a score of 1-0 on Thursday.

Tanner Beets spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has become a key player for Kilgore: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-13-1 otherwise.

Kilgore has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15-1 record this season. As for Carthage, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12-1.

Carthage came out on top in a nail-biter against Kilgore when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 4-3. Does Carthage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kilgore turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
