Baseball Recap: Northside Has No Trouble Against Northridge

Northside won the last time they faced Northridge and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mustangs blew past the Knights 13-7. Considering the Mustangs have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rowan Yen made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Northside: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Yen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Northside let Tyler Weigand and John Piper run wild. Weigand went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Piper went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Weigand has posted since April 4th. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Dragovic, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Northside lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Northside now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Northridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside will face off against Steinmetz College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Silver Streaks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.47 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northridge, they will challenge St. Edward at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
