Recap: Penelope Wolverines vs. Abbott Panthers
It was a good run, but The Penelope Wolverines unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Abbott on the road and fell 50-0. The low total for Penelope limited their streak of high-flying scores to four in a row.
Abbott got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brady Schulz out in front who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Schulz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Another player making a difference was Riley Sustala, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Penelope's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Abbott, their win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Penelope will take on Coolidge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Abbott, they will head out on the road to face off against Gholson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gholson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Abbott is ranked fifth).
