Basketball Game Preview: Star Valley Braves vs. Evanston Devils

Star Valley is 9-1 against Evanston since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Star Valley Braves will head out to face off against the Evanston Devils at 5:00 p.m. Star Valley will be strutting in after a win while Evanston will be coming in after a loss.

Star Valley will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Natrona County, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Star Valley came out on top against Natrona County by a score of 41-28 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.

Star Valley relied on the efforts of Emily Dana, who posted ten points and eight rebounds, and Ruby Hill, who had six points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Hill a new career-high in assists (three). Torrie White was another key player, putting up four points.

Star Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Evanston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-34 heartbreaker at the hands of Rock Springs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Devils have suffered since January 4th.

Star Valley pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points over those games. As for Evanston, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Star Valley beat Evanston 44-36 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Star Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
