Recap: Calvert Cavaliers vs. Chopticon Braves
The Calvert Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 32-25 to Chopticon. Calvert was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Chopticon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Calvert saw an underclassman step up: Brooke Kidwell dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Kidwell's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight.
Calvert dropped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.0 points per game. As for Chopticon, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvert will take on Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chopticon, they will be playing at home against St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Charles' defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Chopticon's offense will have their work cut out for them.
