Baseball Recap: Winters Mill Gets the Win

Winters Mill took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Liberty, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons skirted past the Lions 4-3.

Drew Lawson tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Bradyn Belschner was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Ben King was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Winters Mill now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Liberty, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Winters Mill is set to challenge their familiar foe South Carroll at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Liberty will take on rival Century at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
