Baseball Recap: Highland Find Success

It was a Battle of the Birds when Highland duked it out with The Covenant on Tuesday. The Hawks never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Highland got a great performance from Stephen Christopher as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Christopher has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joey Rogers, who scored a run and stole three bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Gunning, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Highland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Covenant struck out nine times.

Highland's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for The Covenant, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will face off against Bishop O'Connell at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hawks 2.8, the Knights 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for The Covenant, they will square off against Blue Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
