            Softball Recap: Murdock Blue Devils vs. Gardner Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            Murdock came into their game  on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against  the Gardner Wildcats, falling  8-2. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

 Kassandra Santos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned  (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for  her.
 On the hitting side,  Shannon Connolly was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-3 with one  stolen base and two  RBI. That  stolen base marked the first that  she has  snagged this season.
Murdock's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Gardner, their record is now 7-4.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Murdock will welcome West Boylston  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Gardner, they will be playing at home against Bromfield  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.4  runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
