Softball Recap: Payette Wins Going Away Against Homedale

Payette hadn't done well against Homedale recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Pirates were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Trojans. The game was the first time the Pirates have beaten the Trojans on their field since April 18, 2022.

Anna Moreno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Victoria Walker, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Sam Parsons, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Payette is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Homedale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Payette didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-2 defeat against Cole Valley Christian on the 5th. Homedale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
