Preview: DeKalb Tigers vs. Rock Port Blue Jays
The DeKalb Tigers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Rock Port Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: DeKalb has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Rock Port will arrive with eight straight victories.
DeKalb pushed their score all the way to 60 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 83-60 defeat to North Nodaway might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat DeKalb has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, Rock Port earned a 42-34 victory over Falls City on Thursday.
Rock Port found their leader in underclassman Jack Meyerkorth, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Holmes, who scored seven points along with four steals.
DeKalb bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Rock Port, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
DeKalb was dealt a bruising 75-39 loss at the hands of Rock Port in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for DeKalb, Micah Makings (who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
