Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Silver Foxes vs. Canutillo Eagles

Jefferson is 1-9 against Canutillo since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Silver Foxes will host the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Jefferson has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

El Paso hit Jefferson with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Silver Foxes came up short against the Tigers, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Canutillo waltzed into their matchup on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Huskies a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Flores was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs. He has become a key player for Canutillo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ashton Dupri, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Canutillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Canutillo, their win bumped their record up to 12-8-1.

Jefferson couldn't quite get it done against Canutillo in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 8-3. Can the Silver Foxes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
