Basketball Recap: Hilliard's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Hilliard has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 67-55 to the Charlton County Indians on Saturday. The Red Flashes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 59-44.

Hilliard's loss came despite strong showings from Molly Dean and Alyssa Hallman. Dean went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points and four steals, while Hallman almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reah Saunders, who posted six points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Charlton County found their leader in sophomore Rihanna Battle, who put up 32 points along with seven boards and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Battle has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Christiona.?? Farmer, who earned 20 points and eight rebounds.

Hilliard's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-7. As for Charlton County, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilliard will face off against Fernandina Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hilliard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. As for Charlton County, they will square off against Lanier County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
