Softball Recap: Athens Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Athens walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hartselle Tigers on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-8. The win was nothing new for the Golden Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Athens pushed their record up to 29-14 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Hartselle, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-12-1.

Hartselle wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-10 victory against Muscle Shoals on the 29th. Hopefully Athens paid attention to the Tigers' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
