Volleyball Recap: 15 Straight Home Victories for Gaston Day

Gaston Day had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Village Christian Academy Knights by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Gaston Day had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-16, 25-7, 25-16.

Gaston Day can attribute much of their success to Ava Blanton, who had 14 digs and four assists. That's the most assists Blanton has posted over her last seven matches.

Gaston Day was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Gaston Day's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-4. As for Village Christian Academy, their defeat ended an eight-match streak of away wins and brought them to 21-4.
