Basketball Recap: Dylan Butcher's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Surry Homeschool over South Charlotte

Surry HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Charlotte Thunder. Even though they lost, the Runnin' Patriots' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Surry HomeSchool's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Butcher, who posted 15 points. The match was Butcher's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Weddle, who put up 12 points.

South Charlotte's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kristoffer Lang, who went 9 of 12 en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Lang a new career-high in steals. Damien Ferreira also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Surry HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 9-22. As for South Charlotte, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season.

Surry HomeSchool didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-40 defeat against Varsity Opponent on the 4th. As for South Charlotte, they have also already played their next match, a 62-60 loss against Legion Collegiate Academy on the 4th.
