Softball Recap: Minooka Comes Up Short

Minooka dropped their record down to 21-10 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Lockport Porters by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Porters this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in April.

As for Lockport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 22-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.

For Lockport's part, Bridget Faut spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Faut has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rheanna Slavicek, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Looking ahead, Minooka will face off against Oswego at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lockport, they will challenge Homewood-Flossmoor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
