Elk Rapids came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-49 W against the Cheboygan Chiefs. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Elks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Chiefs are ranked 84th).

Elk Rapids' win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cheboygan, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Elk Rapids is set to square off against their familiar foe Harbor Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cheboygan will challenge rival Grayling at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
