Softball Game Preview: Clinton Red Devils vs. Laurens Raiders

The Clinton Red Devils will face off against the Laurens Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinton has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Clinton is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They fell 13-8 to River Bluff. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly five runs.

Meanwhile, Laurens made easy work of Southside on Thursday and carried off a 24-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four contests by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Zealy Martin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Martin was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Laurens got a massive performance out of Addison Trevino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Addy Carlisle, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Laurens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in six consecutive games.

Laurens now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1.
