Recap: South Plaquemines Hurricanes vs. Phoenix Spartans
The South Plaquemines Hurricanes suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Phoenix 66-33. South Plaquemines was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-18.
Phoenix was led to victory by DERVONTE ANCAR and RONDELL BATTLE. ANCAR scored 18 points, while BATTLE dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which BATTLE has scored at least a third of Phoenix's points. The team also got some help courtesy of JAYLON MARTIN, who scored seven points.
South Plaquemines has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Phoenix, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plaquemines will take on Tara at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Tara has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 13. As for Phoenix, they will head out on the road to take on Belle Chasse at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belle Chasse has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 449 points over their last seven games.
