The Hodgeman County Longhorns will head out on the road to square off against the South Central Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hodgeman County is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Hodgeman County is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Satanta: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hodgeman County blew Satanta out of the water with a 53-23 final score. Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hodgeman County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylee Reece, who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That's the most assists Reece has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mallorie Ruff, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Hodgeman County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They snuck past Ingalls with a 38-33 victory on Monday.
Hodgeman County better focus on containing Isabel Hackney and Micah Duke as the pair were huge in South Central's win. Hackney earned eight points in addition to 15 boards and five steals, while Duke went 7-for-8 to rack up 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hackney is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Remi Martin, who had five points and 12 rebounds.
Hodgeman County's record is now 14-5. As for South Central, their record is now 8-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hodgeman County has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.1 boards per game. However, it's not like South Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hodgeman County beat South Central 54-47 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hodgeman County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
