            Baseball Recap: Eugene Eagles vs. New Bloomfield Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            Eugene came into this matchup off a tough six-run  loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the New Bloomfield Wildcats by a score of  6-4 on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in April of 2024.
 Sam Schulte put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. Schulte was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Jack Libbert and  Nolan Wilbers did some serious damage despite the final result:  Libbert  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double, while  Wilbers  scored a  run while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances. That  double marked the first that  Libbert  hit this season.
Eugene dropped their record down to 1-6 with the  loss, which was their fourth straight  at home dating back to last season. As for New Bloomfield,  the  win  got them back to even at 3-3.
 Coming up, Eugene will face off against Lincoln at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for New Bloomfield, they will challenge Richland Center at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
