Football Recap: Rockvale Falls to Independence in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Rockvale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Independence Eagles at home by a 37-23 margin on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Rockvale lost, don't look at Jonathan Hamby. Despite the final result, he rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 113 yards and one TD.

Independence got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Garlington out in front who rushed for 22 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 66 receiving yards.

Looking ahead, Rockvale will venture away from home to square off against Station Camp at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Independence, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Lincoln County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
