Recap: St. David's Warriors vs. Cary Christian Knights
On Friday, The St. David's Warriors faced the Cary Christian Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. David's was dealt a 76-28 loss at the hands of Cary Christian. St. David's lost against Cary Christian in their previous head to head back in October of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-0 score last time.
Despite the defeat, St. David's saw an underclassman step up: Jamir Smoakes rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 69 receiving yards.
Cary Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reed Harvey, who threw for 436 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Harvey is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Cesarz, who picked up 265 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
St. David's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Cary Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
St. David's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cary Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
