Basketball Recap: Herriman Comes Up Short

Herriman extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-3. They had to suffer through a 71-24 loss at the hands of the Alta Hawks. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.

Addison Porter was Herriman's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Jaylee Hansen took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

As for Alta, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 4th (when they won 73-21).

Alta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Stephens led the charge by shooting 54% from the field en route to 16 points. Thanks to that strong game, Stephens now owns an excellent 46.2% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Alia Baldassano, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Herriman will host Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alta, they will challenge Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will be up against the Bengals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.43 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
