Baseball Recap: Cedar Ridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Georgetown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedar Ridge). They came out on top against the Georgetown Eagles by a score of 5-1 on Friday. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 5-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Matthew Fletcher made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned runs in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

Fletcher wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Mabry, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Riggs Gordon also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The victory got Cedar Ridge back to even at 2-2. As for Georgetown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Cedar Ridge will head out on the road to square off against Veterans Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pflugerville Connally at 7:00 p.m. on March 12th.
