Basketball Recap: Wheaton Academy Gets the Win

Wheaton Academy hadn't done well against Timothy Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wheaton Academy Warriors escaped with a win against the Timothy Christian Trojans by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 43-41 last Saturday.

Despite the defeat, Timothy Christian had strong showings from Elisabeth Van Den Berg, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds, and Sami Drye, who posted ten points and five steals. Those five steals gave Drye a new career-high. Sienna Azzinaro was another key player, putting up nine points.

Wheaton Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Timothy Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Wheaton Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-51 loss against Seneca on the 30th.
