Athens had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Walnut Ridge Bobcats get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.

Hudson Marks was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Michael Maloney, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Athens' victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Walnut Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Athens will challenge Muscle Shoals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walnut Ridge, they will host Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
