Byron Nelson hasn't had much luck against Keller recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Byron Nelson Bobcat will welcome the Keller Indians at 7:00 p.m. Byron Nelson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Byron Nelson came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Timber Creek, falling 15-7.
Brooke Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Madison McBride was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Keller has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.81 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Southlake Carroll 16-15. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.
Sydona Meiser was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenna Jackson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Keller kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Keller pushed their record up to 11-4-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Byron Nelson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Byron Nelson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Keller struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
