Baseball Recap: Falkner Comes Up Short

Falkner fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Myrtle on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-4 to the Hawks. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jackson Jordan put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Jordan was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.

Jordan wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Wooley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Another was John Lumpkin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Falkner's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 16-6. As for Myrtle, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

While Falkner had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
