Basketball Recap: Moberly Comes Up Short

Moberly lost against Kirksville back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Moberly Spartans fell just short of the Kirksville Tigers by a score of 47-44. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Moberly lost, don't look at Mason Bivins. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points. Bivins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Cameron Doubrava was another key player, putting up ten points.

Moberly's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-9. As for Kirksville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Moberly will challenge Southern Boone at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Southern Boone's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups. As for Kirksville, they will face off against Hannibal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kirksville is facing Hannibal at the right time seeing as Hannibal is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
