Recap: Greer Yellow Jackets vs. James F. Byrnes Rebels
After flying high against the Berea Bulldogs last Monday, the Greer Yellow Jackets came back down to earth. Greer was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to James F. Byrnes. The match was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but Greer was outscored by James F. Byrnes in the second.
Defeat or not, Greer got some senior leadership from Jalasia Lewis who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals and Amiyah Clark-Lamelle who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Clark-Lamelle's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samora Moody, who scored nine points along with six steals.
Greer now has a losing record at 4-5. As for James F. Byrnes, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Greer will take on Bluffton in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at. Bluffton's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Greer's offense will have their work cut out for Greer. As for James F. Byrnes, they will head out on the road to face off against Gatlinburg-Pittman on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Gatlinburg-Pittman is ranked eighth in Tennessee, while James F. Byrnes is ranked tenth in South Carolina).
