Basketball Recap: Austin College and Career Academy Takes a Loss

Austin College and Career Academy was the 46-3 winner over Wells when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Austin College and Career Academy Tigers lost 51-31 to the Wells Raiders on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Austin College and Career Academy still got an impressive performance from DeAhri Hayes, who posted 20 points. With that strong performance, Hayes is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game.

It was another big night for Ashanti Clark, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds for Wells. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Clark has scored at least a third of Wells' points. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Marshall, who scored eight points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Austin College and Career Academy dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Wells, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Austin College and Career Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-17 win against Kelvyn Park on the 10th. As for Wells, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 44-20 victory against Clemente on the 10th.
