Basketball Recap: Hampton Bays Comes Up Short at Home Against Mount Sinai

Hampton Bays unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Mount Sinai Mustangs and fell 73-22. The Baymen's loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Mount Sinai got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brian Vales out in front who posted 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Vales a new career-high in assists (four). Alex Campanelli was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

The victory (which was Mount Sinai's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Hampton Bays will challenge Mount Sinai at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mount Sinai, they will welcome Shoreham-Wading River at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Mount Sinai knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Shoreham-Wading River likes a good challenge.
