Football Recap: Lutheran Falls to Cooper in First Game of Season

Lutheran unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Cooper Dragons on Friday, falling 55-13. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 42nd in Colorado, while the Dragons are ranked 414th in Texas).

Eric Sipko had a dynamite game For Cooper., picking up 157 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those 157 receiving yards gave Sipko a new career-high.

Coming up, Lutheran will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Fort Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cooper, they will be playing at home against Concordia Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
