Football Recap: Lutheran Starts Season with Loss at Home

Lutheran unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Cooper Dragons and fell 55-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since September 13, 2024.

Although Lutheran took the loss, they still got scores from Brody Rasmussen and Deacon Downing.

Even if they lost, Lutheran's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rylan Tisdall, Collin Huber, and Tyler Hageman, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Eric Sipko had a dynamite game For Cooper., picking up 157 receiving yards and three TDs. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Sipko a new career-high.

Lutheran didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 26-25 victory against Fort Morgan on the 4th. Cooper has also already played their next game (against Concordia Lutheran), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
