Basketball Recap: Ryan Scripps' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sacramento Country Day over Wells

Sacramento Country Day saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 53-41 to the Wells Leopards. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 733rd in California, while the Leopards are ranked 47th in Nevada).

Sacramento Country Day's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Scripps, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Scripps is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Ekram Thiarra was another key player, putting up 15 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Sacramento Country Day and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Wells, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Sacramento Country Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-22 victory against Mammoth on the 14th. As for Wells, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 41-9 win against Non Varsity Opponent on the 14th.
