Softball Recap: Southwest Starts Season with Victory at Home

Southwest gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Verona Wildcats a 23-0 shutout. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

This is the second loss in a row for Verona and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Southwest and Verona will both be playing Wheaton the next time they take the field. Southwest will host Wheaton on Saturday, while Verona will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
