Softball Game Preview: Kaiser Cats vs. Summit SkyHawks

Kaiser hasn't had much luck against Summit recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cats will venture away from home to take on the SkyHawks at 3:45 p.m. Kaiser knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Summit likes a good challenge.

Carter hit Kaiser with a seven-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cats fell just short of the Lions by a score of 11-10.

Alyssa Montoya made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Davis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Summit suffered their biggest defeat since February 29, 2024 on Monday. They lost 13-6 to Grand Terrace. The loss continues a trend for the SkyHawks in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost three in a row.

Isabella Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Arianna Munoz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Kaiser's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.

Kaiser came up short against Summit in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 5-2. Can the Cats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
