Recap: Wando Warriors vs. Goose Creek Gators
If the Wando Warriors were riding high off their 63-29 takedown of the Stratford Knights last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wando fell to Goose Creek 46-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wando in their matchups with Goose Creek: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Wando saw an underclassman step up: Malaya Mazyck scored 11 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Mazyck is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Andrus, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Wando bumped their record down to 9-11 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Goose Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Wando will head out on the road to face off against Asheville School (Independent) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Goose Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Stratford at 6:00 p.m. Stratford and Goose Creek are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
