No. 4 Bishop Gorman eyes national record as it closes in on 10th consecutive state title.

Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), St. Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.) and St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) all fell last week as the MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings continue to be shaped by surprising results. All three programs were ranked in the top 15 last week.

This week, No. 4 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and No. 12 Greensboro Day School (Greensboro, N.C.) will each look to complete their quests for state titles while No. 5 Centennial (Corona, Calif.) has a highly-anticipated CIF Southern Section Open Division title game showdown with No. 13 Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.).

The postseason got underway Monday night for the nation's top-ranked team as Richardson blasted Grand Prairie 97-63 in the Texas Class 6A state playoffs. No. 2 Duncanville is in the same bracket and opens Tuesday against Shoemaker (Killeen).

In big news off the court last week, plans were announced for the inaugural State Champions Invitational, which will be held April 7-9. An extension of GEICO Nationals, the event is expected to feature four state champions from around the country and could have major long-term ramifications.

NOTE: Prior to the 2021-22 season, MaxPreps adopted a split approach to the rankings. The MaxPreps Top 25 is a measure of public and private schools belonging to recognized governing bodies that compete for state championships. The National Top 20 encompasses a broad spectrum of sub-collegiate programs that in most cases are not full members of state-level governing bodies and do not compete for state championships.
