Hart extended the longest winning streak in Foothill this week by beating Saugus, 35-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
The Centurions made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,601 from 6,992. The advance stemmed from a 35-0 victory over Saugus last week.
Valencia's dynamic duo of Sean Murphy and Malik Townsend proved tough for Canyon to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Murphy threw for 473 yards and six touchdowns and Townsend had 183 yards receiving. Tedric Thompson helped Valencia's passing attack out by catching five balls for 86 yards.
Daniel Castro was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 55 yards on 15 carries as the Cowboys bested the Cowboys. Teammate Cade Apsay added to the ground attack by rushing for 48 yards.
Canyon's Apsay and Drew Wolitarsky have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Apsay has thrown for 2542 yards this season, while Wolitarsky, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 61 catches for 894 yards. Leon Jacobs from Golden Valley leads the league in rushing with 777 yards.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Valencia and Hart meet this week. Larry Muir's team features well-regarded freshman Cole Parkinson while Mike Herrington's team has Trent Irwin, a sought after sophomore.
A big matchup in Foothill this week will be when the Vikings take on the Indians. As it stands, Valencia is in third, while Hart is in first.
