Baseball Recap: Berean Christian Beats Bentley for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Berean Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They never let the Bentley Phoenix get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Luke Upshaw made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max McTighe, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Riley Sabo also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Berean Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Berean Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Bentley, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berean Christian will head out to face off against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season. Bentley will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Making Waves Academy at 4:00 p.m. on March 26th.
