Softball Recap: Borrego Springs Takes a Loss

Borrego Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-5 to the Calipatria Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent defeat being a 18-17 loss back in April.

Lylamae Gutierrez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. Gutierrez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Borrego Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Calipatria, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Borrego Springs will take on Ocean View Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. Calipatria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
