Basketball Recap: Los Banos Takes a Loss

Los Banos lost against El Capitan back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Los Banos Tigers took a hard 73-55 fall against the El Capitan Gauchos. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 626th, while the Gauchos are ranked 298th).

El Capitan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anthony Jones led the charge by going 8-for-12 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Ultreras, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points along with five assists and four steals.

Los Banos' defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-11. As for El Capitan, their record now sits at 17-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Los Banos will face off against Oakdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Banos knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Oakdale likes a good challenge. As for El Capitan, they will square off against Beyer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Beyer will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something El Capitan surely won't give up without a fight.
